MUN Locals@ISM- Update

Hosted by ISM on 8-9th of October, 2021

It is MUN season here at ISM and the club has been working hard to prepare for several events. With around 80 regular members, the club is one of the biggest in the HS at ISM.

On October 8th and 9th, ISM virtually hosted 275 students from Manila and Cebu for the annual MUN Locals event. Despite the challenges of Covid, our student and teacher MUN leaders were able to harness the power of Zoom to create a genuinely interactive and engaging event. Special thanks must go to ISM staff members Colin Aitken and Atilio Polo for spearheading the organisation, but it is also important to highlight the heavy student input in planning and organisation. With 18 schools represented, the ISM MUN Club have worked tirelessly for the past month to ensure each guest delegate was assigned their desired MUN committee and had access to quality source material.  MUN Club Directors and the rest of the club pulled together to run a professional, smoothly-run event. An added bonus to hosting online is that overheads are kept to a minimum. The ISM MUN Club took advantage of this and created a fundraising opportunity. By still charging a minimal participation fee of 200PHP, the club hopes to donate around 50,000PHP to UNICEF. In terms of speaking, many of our students stood out, but a special congratulations to Freshman student, Niyanthri A, and Junior student, Noor S, for being awarded Best Delegate in their respective committees.
